Tips & Tricks for Enjoying Your Stay at Being Estate Villas, Tobago
TIPS AND TRICKS FOR ENJOYING BEING ESTATE VILLAS BETTER
1. Don’t get bugged! Turn off all lights at night when you are not using the rooms, especially the bathrooms. Insects love lights.
2. Do NOT use any glass near or in the pool. Broken glass is invisible under water so we will have to empty the pool, vacuum the bottom and refill. This will significantly disrupt your holiday and will be an additional charge to you. Additionally, we do not have a lifeguard on duty so use of the pool is at your own risk
3. If you need any additional assistance or services, please call our representative Mr. Devern Williams, who lives on the estate with his family: +1 (868) 338-4417. Devern is able to organise transfers, tours, activities, such as Horseback Riding, car rentals, trips to popular beaches and sites and can perform other miracles such as your grocery shopping. Just ask him.
4. Looking for something to eat? Devern is also an excellent cook. You need to definitely try his hand. He is brilliant at local dishes. He makes a fantastic crab and dumplings, a mean stew (burnt sugar) pork and the best curried goat on the island. Just make arrangements with him directly.
5. The nearby village of Plymouth has many services such as banking, petrol service station, groceries, historical sites, beaches, local bars, vegetable stalls, etc. And make sure to check out the historic Plymouth Tomb Stone. See if you could figure out the riddle there.
6. We offer free WiFi access. The code is Tobagolove. Just chose the network that you are closest to you.
7. If you’re into hiking, then you’re in the right place. Explore our 11-acre organic fruit estate. Just ask Devern.
8. Feeling for some snorkelling? Turtle Bay, a secluded bay just a short hike away from Being, is an ideal location. No crowds, no fuss, no noise. ‘Sugars’, our local snorkelling guide will be happy to accompany you if necessary (additional fee applies, arrange with him directly).
9. If you have any housekeeping questions or requests, please feel free to call Devern.
10. Don’t get sand where you sleep! When returning from the beach, kindly wash your feet and snorkel gear in the foot spa at the entrance.
11. For a fantastic sleep, we recommend to take a cool shower before hitting the sack, especially at night.
12. Learn traditional Caribbean chocolate making right in the village of Arnos Vale. Cost is US $30 per person. Contact the office to book +1 (868) 676-6165
13. The best vehicle to use in Tobago and at Being Estate Villas is a 4×4. We highly recommend it. Our office can help you rent a vehicle.
14. Enjoy sensual private outdoor massages. Experience a 1-hour, full-body, deep massage with our experience Masseur. Contact the office to make a booking.
15. Recommended Restaurants:
a. For breakfast try Leggers (10 minutes from the villa)
b. Dinner: Brown Cow, La Tartaruga, Sea Horse, Fish Pot, and more.
c. For lunch try out to food court in Buccoo (on Shirvan Road) – wide variety of grills and fast food options.
16. Wake Up with the Estate. Early mornings are one of the most magical times at Being. Take a cup of coffee or tea onto your deck just after sunrise and enjoy the sounds of tropical birds, the fresh mountain air, and the spectacular views across the Caribbean Sea.
17. Enjoy amazing sunsets. Every evening nature puts on a different performance. Grab a drink, settle into a comfortable spot by the infinity pool or gazebo, and watch the sun disappear into the Caribbean Sea. Some of our guests say it becomes the highlight of their stay.
18. Discover Our Fruit Trees. Being is home to an 11-acre organic estate with a variety of tropical fruits depending on the season. Ask Devern what is currently in season and whether there may be an opportunity to sample fresh fruit directly from the estate.
19. Keep an Eye Out for ‘Wildlife’. You are sharing the estate with many of Tobago’s native birds, butterflies, lizards and other wildlife. Keep your camera handy. The estate is a wonderful place for nature lovers and photographers.
20. Take the Walk to Turtle Bay. Many guests consider Turtle Bay one of Tobago’s hidden treasures. The walk itself is part of the experience. Bring water, suitable footwear, sunscreen and your camera. It’s a less than 10 minute trek.
21. Embrace Outdoor Living. Being was designed to blur the line between indoors and outdoors. Open the doors, enjoy the sea breeze, listen to the sounds of nature and experience the villa the way it was intended.
22. Stock Up Before Late Evening. While Plymouth is only a short drive away, some shops and services close earlier than visitors may expect. If you plan a quiet evening at the villa, we recommend purchasing groceries, snacks and beverages before sunset.
23. Stay Hydrated. Tobago’s tropical climate can be warmer than many guests are accustomed to. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially after spending time at the beach, pool or exploring the island.
24. Ask About Local Secrets. The best experiences are often not found in guidebooks. Whether it is a hidden beach, a local food spot, a scenic drive, a waterfall or a cultural event, Devern can point you towards some of Tobago’s lesser-known gems.
25. Enjoy the Night Sky. With very little light pollution, Being offers excellent opportunities for stargazing. On clear nights, step outside, look up, and enjoy a view of the stars that many city dwellers rarely experience.
26. Let Us Help You Celebrate. Celebrating a birthday, anniversary, honeymoon or special occasion? Let Devern know. We may be able to help arrange special touches to make your stay even more memorable.
27. Disconnect to Reconnect. Wi-Fi is available, but many guests tell us their favourite memories come from putting away their devices for a while and simply enjoying the peace, privacy and beauty of Being.
28. Respect Nature. Being is located within a thriving natural environment. Please help us preserve it by avoiding litter, conserving water and electricity when possible, and treating the estate’s plants and wildlife with care.
29. Don’t Rush. Perhaps the most important tip of all: slow down. Being was created as a place to breathe, reflect, reconnect and simply enjoy life’s simple pleasures. The less you try to pack into your schedule, the more likely you are to discover what makes Being truly special.
